Enhancing Awareness of Food Quality and Safety Standards Among MSME Processed Food Producers in Pondoksalam, Purwakarta

The last few decades have shown the concern of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) regarding the quality of the processed food they produce. This is one of the drivers for increasing product sales value which then has an impact on company turnover. This community service program (PKM) aims to identify the understanding of MSME actors in Pondoksalam District, Purwakarta Regency regarding the importance of the quality and safety of processed food produced. There were 15 MSME respondents we interviewed who had not tested the quality of their processed products and had not included the shelf life on the packaging. In implementing PKM, we provide outreach regarding quality assurance and safety of food products according to Indonesian National Standards (SNI), as well as providing assistance and facilitating product analysis and determining shelf life. MSME products that are examples are types of snack foods in the form of banana chips, banana sale, pungpa, basreng, and Ladu, which are produced by MSMEs from Tanjung Sari Village, Pondoksalam District, Purwakarta. This program shows an increase in knowledge of MSME players regarding the importance of quality and safety standards for processed food products. With this program, MSME players have also received a quality analysis certificate for their MSME products, which can be included on their product packaging. It is hoped that this PKM Program will have a positive impact on MSMEs, so that they can complete important information, by including the nutritional adequacy figure (RDA) and shelf life on their product packaging. In this way, processed food products from Tanjungsari Village can compete in official shops, supermarkets and global markets, and can increase the economic income of MSMEs
